No question that with a divorce rate at around 40 to 45 percent, that marriage has to be redefined or protected. Since currently all marriages are heterosexual (in America) I am not sure how homosexuals getting married will weaken any heterosexual relationship. If there is any harm to the heterosexual relationship, it surely has to be the soaps shows, and those innterview shows where they bring on people who sleep with their best friend’s wife or their mother or sister or whatever. Isn’t that a nice thing for your sons and daughters to see. People who most would never see, read about or hear about who do things we wouldn’t do or wouldn’t want our sons and daughters to do, have the best of advertisers, the highest ratings because you and yours watch the shows. In addition, I am calling on Americans everywhere to utilize Monday, July 12, as "CALL YOUR SENATORS DAY", to urge both of their senators to supportthe FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT. ### Otherwise, and far more **properly**, called the BIGOTRY AMENDMENT. There we have it!! Contact your Senators NOW, when their offices open in the morning, to **oppose** it. And THEN… **most especially** — contact them on Monday, July 12, to help CANCEL OUT and neutralize any effectiveness that the bigots may otherwise have with their strategy!! Pass this on to every fair-minded egalitarian you know… and REMEMBER that there are 100,000,000+ **straight** Americans who SUPPORT the Gay Community’s quest to END the bigotry, and are their ALLIES, just as *this* writer is. INVOLVE all of **us** in helping you with this vital effort, TOO! Numbers **count**!! "PROTECT MARRIAGE SUNDAY" Thousands of churches will be participating in "Protect Marriage Sunday" on July 11. On July 11, pastors will urge everyone attending Sunday services to call their two senators on July 12 as part of a massive grassroots movement to protect traditional marriage. In this column, I have provided a list of all 100 U.S. senators which includes their Washington, D.C., and home state phone numbers, and e-mail addresses. Pastors may utilize this list in order to print up cards that can be dispensed to parishioners on July 11, making it very easy for people to call their senators the next day. I am asking all pastors to lift up the God-ordained institution of marriage in their sermons on July 11, and to make clear the serious pitfalls which same-sex "marriage," polygamy and other diverse family forms present. In addition, Sunday School teachers are encouraged to discuss marriage from a biblical perspective, and also to discuss the threat of same-sex "marriage." ### ATTEND a church on Sunday, July 11, to see if they are one of those who do this. Carry a hidden recorder and record the entire service. If they do this, COPY the tape and MAIL it to the I.R.S. And DEMAND that the IRS **rescind** that church’s tax-exempt status for its blatant violation of the provisions against taking political sides. If we get together and do a GOOD job of this. we can deal a MAJOR blow to bigotry, by thus — very deservedly — impacting up to hundreds of churches who are in violation. Don’t take notes; RECORD the services! Concentrate on the churches known to be the more "conservative" (i.e., RRR-cult-infested) ones. STARTING with your OWN two Senators. I am praying that we overwhelm senate staffers with phone calls and that these calls will convince several senators that the vast majority of their constituents support traditional marriage. I want to help rally the troops in the cause to protect traditional marriage from arrogant judges… ### …aka FAIR-minded judges who are doing their JOB **right**. It is up to ALL fair-minded egalitarians to GET INVOLVED in the Civil Rights Movement of the 21st century, and overwhelm the Senate’s staffers with our OPPOSITION to the Bigotry Amendment! … and pompous politicians … to enact their ambiguous views on marriage — namely by authorizing same-sex marriages. ### (What a loon!! THIS is the warped mentality that we’re up against!) There is some good news to report: Since last week’s column, Sen. George Allen (R-Va.) has announced he will vote for [it]. ### After you call your own Senators, a call to him to let him know that his bigotry is not appreciated, would be worthwhile. Enough such calls might help him to reconsider. Your action of calling both of your senators will have a powerful impact on this issue. ### True, Falwell. But fortunately for America, that works BOTH ways. If enough FAIR-minded people OPPOSE the Bigotry Amendment, we can ENSURE that it will be **defeated**! Most senators will not vote against the FMA if enough constituents call to urge them to support the amendment. ### And, importantly, most Senators will vote AGAINST the Bigotry Amendment if enough egalitarians call and urge them to OPPOSE it !! (ALSO — Let’s all get together and put bumpers stickers on our vehicles that say, NO BIGOTRY AMENDMENT!! Even if some of us have to hand-make them. (Easy to do on a computer with "Word," "WordPerfect," etc.)) Remember, after you have called your senators, urge all of your friends and family members to also call and respectfully ask that their senators… ### …OPPOSE the so-called "FMA" — The Bigotry Amendment. Most importantly… ### Go to a church on Sun, 7/11/04, and RECORD the service. Send a copy of the tape to the IRS if they follow Falwell’s instructions. (Send it overnight… or via Priority Mail… or via First Class as a Certified Letter w/Return Receipt, with a cover letter that provides the details pertaining to the preacher, the church, and the time, and ask that they fulfill their duty to rescind that church’s tax-exempt status.. And then CALL you Senators (and as many other ones as you can!) on Monday, 7/12/04, to urge that they vote AGAINST the bigotry Amendment. It is imperative that we preserve… ### …all of our individual liberties… … for the sake of our future generations. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = SUGGESTION: **Print out** and COPY this post, and distribute it far and wide, to every fair-minded egalitarian you know and can contact.
