Is CB a Closet Catholic?

Question:

After reading the endless stream of idiotic postings by CB, a.k.a., Mr. Thewaythetruthandthelife, I am beginning to wonder if he is actually a Roman Catholic who wants to make Protestants look bad.  An agent provocateur, you might say. The strategy would be quite clever: he poses as a Protestant, says incredibly stupid things, acts like a complete boor, answers argument with insult, and, in the process, gives all Protestants a black eye. I am sure that the more reflective Protestants who visit this group just have to cringe when they see the inane drivel that CB produces.  CB is a bad caricature of a poorly-educated, bellicose Protestant. Like they say, in cyberspace, no one knows you’re a dog. If I am right, Mr. Thewaythetruthandthelife, I sure wish you would stop your nonsense.  There is no need for increased divisions between Catholics and Protestants — especially if those divisions are based on the rantings of uneducated adolescent. — Dan Morrison

Personally I wonder what the fascination is for him and the few other separated brethren who seem to spend so much time hanging out on a Catholic newsgroup. Don’t they have newsgroups for their own churches? Or maybe there’s nothing worth discussing in their own churches. Aq.

Response:

"CB" stands for Catholic Bishop.  He’s a real Catholic Bishop, here to test our knowledge of Catholicism and make sure we reply in a good, Christian-like manner. CB = "Catholic Bishop", sent by the hierarchy to (1) make sure we read our Bibles in our attempts to refute his scriptural meanderings;  (2) to strengthen our faith, by making us think about the reasons for being a Catholic. Kevin

Now we all know that everyone on this NG responds in a christian-like manner. Even Bam :) — "But grandfather, are the gods not just?" "Oh no, child. What would become of us if they were?" Till We Have Faces_ by C.S. Lewis

That would be a good Conspiracy Theory, except that CB’s so *obnoxious* that he’s probably made more people plonk him than think about him.

No, CB, what we "hate" is your vehemence in stating a position and then your inablity to justify it objectively.  But you still go on and on about it, even when it’s plain that you’re standing on clay.  Like your inability, in another current thread, to explain your interpretation of "signified" in Rev. 1:1, when I’ve quoted a number of very reputable dictionaries that give entirely different interpretations. Your problem is that you become fixated on an interpretation of something and then hang on to it stubbornly in the face of all reason. That’s not faith;  it’s bigotry.  Faith may often be *without* reason, but it is never *contrary* to reason. Kevin

Huh?  What is your point? I feel great, so a response from your father — or from your great-aunt, for that matter — won’t make me feel better.  How does your question relate to CB’s inane postings? I hope you are not under the mistaken impression that I think CB’s postings to be inane because they give a Protestant position.  There are plenty of intelligent Protestant posters on this group.  CB’s postings are obnoxious and stupid because CB is obnoxious and stupid. — Dan Morrison – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – After reading the endless stream of idiotic postings by CB, a.k.a., Mr. Thewaythetruthandthelife, I am beginning to wonder if he is actually a Roman Catholic who wants to make Protestants look bad.  An agent provocateur, you might say. CB does not mean Catholic Bishop. I had been granted an exclusive interview with CB who has informed me that he is the lead singer in the heavy metal group cannibus (CB).

Christ spoke the truth, and it annoyed people.  Ergo, when I annoy people, I must be speaking the truth.  Doesn’t cut it, "CB" (if those are your real initials).

Are you saying that the Word of God is clay? Like your inability, in another current thread, to explain your interpretation of "signified" in Rev. 1:1, when I’ve quoted a number of very reputable dictionaries that give entirely different interpretations.

Wrong again. It is your inability to understand the simple things in life. Your problem is that you become fixated on an interpretation of something and then hang on to it stubbornly in the face of all reason. That’s not faith;  it’s bigotry.

So you think Christ was a bigot?  Faith may often be *without* reason, but it is never *contrary* to reason. Kevin

I love the Truth.  What I find tiresome is your unwillingness to debate fairly.  Whenever someone is about to pin you down (or HAS pinned you down), you hide behind some cryptic remark no one can understand and then berate us for not understanding it, or accuse us of being non-believers, or change the subject, or slither between the cracks. That is what I find tiresome. It’s painfully obvious to everyone except you.  For that matter, it’s probably obvious to you, too, if you could face the TRUTH. — Charles W.         You do not stand above Scripture, CB.  Scripture stands above you… while having prophesied your each and every nefarious move…O, so long ago.
