Question:
I am a Ph.D. student at the Univ. of Texas at Austin and my research is in Celestial Mechanics. I have just submitted my work to the Aerospace Engineering Department here, showing that our Solar System is not heliocentric at all but Earth centered. I have reached this interesting conclusion by studing the Solar System as a Ten Body Problem (sun + nine planets) in terms of classical Celestial Mechanics. This shows that the sun is in a subordinate role to the Earth in establishing order in the Solar System; the sun’s primary role being to maintain the place of our Solar System within the Milky Way Galaxy. My advisor here is Dr. Roger Broucke, a very famous man in Celestial Mechanics. His mentor in graduate school was Levoisier, the Roman Catholic priest who invented the Big Bang Theory. The Lord works in strange ways, no?! But very interesting ways, when perceived through the eyes of science . . . . You can read all about my work on my web site at http://www.inviticus.com

Hello, I think you will find that the early teaching by professed Christians, was the belief that the earth was the center of the universe. Of course that is not a Bible teaching, but nevertheless, many promoted that false teaching. Actually, the Bible is quite accurate when it does discuss astronomical situations. For example, notice how it describes the earth: Around 2700 years ago, a Hebrew prophet wrote in Isaiah 40:22, "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,…" (NIV) The Hebrew word used here for "circle" is "hhug" which also has the meaning of "sphere". Other Bible translations, therefore, say, "the globe of the earth" (Douay Version) and, "the round earth." (Moffatt). Also, out of the Book of Job comes the statement at Job 26:7, "He stretches out the north over the void, and hangs the earth upon nothing." (RSV) So the Bible describes the earth as a circular sphere ‘hanging’ upon "nothing" (floating) in a "void" (space). Yes, the Bible really is the inspired word of God.
