Jesus tells me y'all wasting your time in here

Question:

faith without works is dead — St. Paul in one of his letters

That’s James.

Response:

I bet people would not respond because they seem more interested in arguing about little things, but forgetting the "big picture".  I am sure that this is a tool that Satan uses against the children of God — "let me get them to argue about the little things that make no difference, because then I can’t continue to harm them while they’re busy squabbling among themselves about doctrine.  Why is the protestant church so divided?  A house divided against itself can not stand. How can a man even hear the gospel if he is starving for food? But each person has his place in the purpose of God. In the culture of Jesus there was no welfare etc and the poor underwent severe detriment and were within arms reach.  The poor that exist in the USA for example are rich in comparison to the poor of Jesus’ day.  God is the soveriegn God and His arm is not too short that it cannot save.  Thus each man has a set of works prepared in advance for him to walk in Eph2.10. Not mine.  I will die for my own sins which will then be forgiven. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It was revealed to me in a vision — people are wasting too much time in the newsgroups — instead of ministering to the poor, sick and needy.  I would like to know what do you DO (not say or believe) that can prove to this group that you really are holy and worthy of salvation?    I bet no one responds to this one. The problem is that it’s a trick question.  Christians are practically forbidden from making a show about what they do for the poor and needy.  There is almost no way to answer your question without patting yourself on the back, and becoming puffed up with spiritual pride. Those who do the most usually talk about it the least.

: Jesus died for the sins of all.  One who is sending such a material to the Jewish forum is an immoral person. The nery existance of an immoral person proofs that Mesaya did not came yet.  As to the contence there is no reason to assume  that guy died for the sins rather than for cosin, tangents, squar-root, exponent or factorial . My apologies to you. I responded to the original post, and I did not notice what newsgroups the original poster had included. And Jesus DID come, 2,000 years ago.   — Michael John 3 16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Response:

hey you yo-yo I wasn’t talking to Jewish people, they obviously are not commanded by Jesus to heal the sick, minister to the poor, etc.  It would be nice if they did, but they are not commanded to.  I was referring to hypocritical Christians who are so quick to jump down everyone’s throat about doctrine and dogma, yet do not themselves heed Christ’s commandment to "Sell all you have and give to the poor", or "Judge not lest ye be judged", and tons of other commandments from the mouth of Jesus that Christians blatantly ignore, while choosing to dig up archaic references in Leviticus law concerning homosexuality, impurity, etc. — Judaic law by which Christians are not bound!  Clearly, not being able to see the forest for the trees is something endemic to these newsgroups. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – : Jesus died for the sins of all. very nice, I’m glad that you feel you are doing the will of God.  If 80% of the people in the country who profess to be Christians were actually doing the work of Christ, then I would not being seeing the streets of cities strewn with poor, sick, homeless people.

Bet we would. "The poor you will always have with you" Sound familiar? Jesus commanded his followers to "sell all you have and give to the poor",

No, he said this in two instances. Once (most noteable as it appears in three os the gospels) was to the rich young ruler and not to His followers. The other instance, recorded in Luke(12) speaks more to pointing out where your treasure is. To focus on eternal consequences. Be careful how literally you read "sell all you have and give to the poor", as you can take it out of context. Consider the following passage as it relates to "sell all you have and give to the poor" Matt 26 6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9 "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." 10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. to minister to the sick, to help those in need.  How is it that there are so many sick, so many needy, so many poor still exist in this country, given that there are so many Christians out there who are supposed to be doing the will of Christ?  Bet you can’t answer that question.

Doing with will of Christ is not determined by the existence (or lack there of) of sick, needy and poor. Mike

If all that was revealed in a vision, then your glasses were obviously fogged up. Maybe some of us spend time in here as well as doing our "Christian duty" to mankind. What I do is my business and not anyone elses. As none are worthy, none of us can "Prove" ourselves Holy or worthy, that must be a figment of your imagination, not a result of a vision. Contractor. PS that is a reply so you lost bet as well.

That is a very fair point.  But it is also true that religious organizations are about the ONLY ones feeding the hungry AT ALL.  In your town, go volunteer at a soup kitchen.  You may be surprised to find that the ONLY ones doing that are Christians. It’s easy to say that Christians aren’t doing enough (and they aren’t – REALLY following Christ is something VERY few do, in my opinion, and those few often become canonized), but those who complain should put their money where there mouth is, and give us a hand.  My Cathedral has a line of 400 people at the soup kitchen every Sunday morning.  You want to come down and help?

Christian don’t bet<s.. just a joke.. I have been wonder that myself.. Don’t people have grass to mow or dishes to wash.. oh.. and a God to serve..  Is it possible to prove to a group of people that you are worthy and holy of salvation?..  I really doubt that.   Also I’m with you on the talking thing.. Too many people talking about who they are and what they believe and really not doing a thing for God.. The Bible says:.. Matt. 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who "does" the will of My Father who is in heaven. Matt. 21:43 "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and be given to a nation "producing" the fruit of it.

Vision (umm hmmm) or no, the question still stands on Scriptural warrant alone. I would like to know what do you DO (not say or believe) that can prove to this group that you really are holy and worthy of salvation?

Most of us are private people, who do all that alms stuff in private, ya know. Bible says so.  But don’t be fooled … the people in here do lots and lots of that Matt 25 stuff. I bet no one responds to this one.

I’ll bet you’re wrong.  I’ll also bet you knew that before you said it. Dave

Response:

Greetings, It was revealed to me in a vision — people are wasting too much time in the newsgroups — instead of ministering to the poor, sick and needy.

But we are. Many of the people that come to this newsgroup and ask questions are poor in spirit.  They come because they need help. I would like to know what do you DO (not say or believe) that can prove to this group that you really are holy and worthy of salvation?

Matthew 6:1-7         [1] "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen         by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who         is in heaven. [2] "Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet         before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the         streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they         have received their reward. [3] But when you give alms, do not let         your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  [4] so that         your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret         will reward you.  [5] "And when you pray, you must not be like         the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues         and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly,         I say to you, they have received their reward.  [6] But when you         pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your         Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will         reward you.  [7] "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases         as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their         many words. I bet no one responds to this one.

How much do we win? :-) May God lead us to a fuller understanding of His truth and may His peace go with you. — 1 Peter 3:8-15 [8] Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind. [9] Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing.  [10] For "He that would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking guile; [11] let him turn away from evil and do right; let him seek peace and pursue it. [12] For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those that do evil." [13] Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is right? [14] But even if you do suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,  [15] but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence;

I’m not "worthy of salvation" at all. I am saved by the Grace of God who died for my sins in the Person of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. I am not saved by any works of my own but by the Blood of the Lamb.         I do, however, try to do works as a way of showing my love for God, for faith without works is dead and I don’t want my faith to be dead.         God bless.     As Jesus says in John 12:8, "The poor are always with us."     I’ll bet that most of the people who respond to these ng’s     perform both corporal and spiritual acts of mercy.     I also do not claim to be worthy of salvation.  I do, though,     have the hope of salvation through God’s grace.
