Question:
Like John: In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word WAS God!… And the Word (God) became flesh! John 1:1 John W
If words became flesh we would have butchers shops where currently we have libraries. You confuse allegory and metaphor with reality That is part of your madness!
Response:
Fine. I have expressed my opinion, which works for me and hundreds of millions of other conservative New Testament Bible Christians;
Ah but it doesn’t work Which is why fundamentalists of different faiths terrorise innocent people and bomb them and each other And why the entire structure of this mind set is collapsing into the abyss of redundant theology and human backwardness Somewhere around the Cretaceous I believe the dinosaurs ceased to exist as dinosaurs This is the Cretaceous period in Christian history – the point where the Thunder Lizards of Christianity that have dominated its world for so long, either evolve or become extinct Ah the sweet sound of the birds at Dawn!
Response:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – My friend – you are fishing. I can’t even explain things down to this level of foolishness. Sorry. Its like trying to explain algebra to someone who hasn’t even mattered addition. Take some time to study accepted methods of hermeneutics, then maybe you’ll be able to carry on an intelligent conversation about the Bible. Until then, you remain in a state where you know so little that it is impossible to explain anything to you. Chris Perhaps I was too hasty in my assumption that you don’t possess the requisite knowledge to carry on an intelligent conversation about the Bible. I’ll give you a chance to prove me wrong. Matt 10:10 (which you have called into question) exhibits a common literary characteristic found in the New Testament. This is one of the most easily observable examples of this particular trait. I learned of this trait many years ago in my Intro to Hermeneutics class and also at a secular university in Greek Grammar II (just so you don’t think this is a "Bible – only" thing – it’s a known trait of Koine). This trait substantially alters the meaning that you have derived. What is this literary characteristic and how does it bear on the meaning? I ask this because I suspect you won’t know. If that is the case, you will demonstrate that you have no qualification to comment on the Bible, since it’s such a basic thing, and yet is required for any sound exegesis. Furthermore, I suspect that you won’t even admit you don’t know, which will only serve to confirm my belief that you know so little about the Bible that you don’t even know how much you don’t know. So… have at it my friend. Some clues: It’s not a theological thing as it’s also found in non-religious Greek literature. It’s not related to the synoptic genre, as it occurs in every genre we know of. Chris
Chris, Please make sure Brain is engaged before putting Mouth into However, I’m going to enjoy watching you squirm your way out of — MA yoiks….and away ! Does Schr
