What is a bastard? a demonisation of innocent children because their parents have not conformed to the social requirements of the above. It would seem that Mary and Joseph were not married. With such a problem confronting the control freaks that gave us roman Christianity, they decided on an immaculate conception. It protected them against its enemies pointing at a bastard Jesus and competed with dozens of other pagan myths whose Gods were also immaculately conceived. PeterT

NO NO NO I did not say that children should be denied a caring mother and father, your personal bias assumed this to be the case, when two people are not married. Who the hell says that state and religious sanctioned marriage holds an exclusive franchise, over family, values,responsibility,love and honour. How dare you condemn hundreds of millions of children and families to the status of bastards and immorality, because they choose or are forced to find merit in family values, beyond traditionally accepted ideas on marriage. May I suggest that a good reason why the divorce rate is as high as 50%, is that idiots like yourself threw vested religious and political interests, have created a superficial fairy tale image as to the meaning of marriage, when the realities of relationship are very quite different.As soon as the image fades so does the marriage.It is this fairytale that draws the wrong kinds of couples together,for the wrong reasons.
