Move to America Matthew 10:34  "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35  "For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; 36  and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.

Oh…so you spend your time inciting the people who live under your roof? Paul

Well as a point of intellectual honesty it is up to you and not your family or your nation to determine whether you find any truth in the concept of God in general and in the Roman Catholic Church in General.  To let others dissuade you from examining the issue is to embrace intellectual dishonesty. That being said, I can understand your reluctance if it might cause you to loose your family and friends, but if it is some consolation to you, know that many have made the choice you are considering and lost even more. Regarding dealing with your family and friends..ask why they think Atheism is so important?  Ask why believing God exists is so wrong? If they claim that it is delusional, ask them for proof of it being delusional.  Ask them what they loose if you believe?  You loose a few hours a month for prayer and or church, but they don’t really loose anything. Ultimately, I think there is a reason that religions keep springing up time and again.  Some claim that the purpose of religion is to explain nature before science came along, but a decent examination of modern religions, and indeed and examination of them for the last couple thousand years show that they moved beyond that long ago to deal with the basic questions of human happiness.  Materialistic philosophies such as capitalism and communisim tells us that wealth for all is the key to happiness yet study after study as well as our media shows us that those who are wealthy are no happier than those of us who are poor.  Perhaps the reason is a spiritual need that wealth simply can’t fulfill. — Bill
