Question:
I should clarify that the title of this message is a little overstated (exaggerated). The subject is not really forbidden, but it is something that I haven’t heard discussed much on this newsgroup. I would like to hear others opinions about the role of the Holy Spirit in a christian’s life. This is a very open, general subject therefore no one can accuse me of asking or starting a "loaded" statement <forgive me, KayJay, but I had to use the word "loaded" just 1 more time
John Doe protestant " . . . be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? ‘ " Hebrews 13:5-6

Good answer, but don’t forget the deposit guaranteeing our inheritance part. John, might I remind you that you are in a Catholic newsgroup? =)
I am in a newsgroup devoted to the topic of the Roman Catholic Church. Besides, those words are not in the Bible so I don’t believe it. =p
"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. " Ephesians 1:13-14 "Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. " 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 "Now we KNOW that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven . . . Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. " 2 Corinthians 5: 1 and 5 John Doe protestant " . . . be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? ‘ " Hebrews 13:5-6

The role of the Spirit in one’s life? There are many. They all find their foundations in that God sent us His Spirit to guide us to Him in spirit and truth. The Spirit is an infallible Truth that tries His best to penetrate us, but will only go as far as we let Him (free will, again). A better question might be, what is the role of us, as Christians, in the life of the Spirit? How are we not allowing the Spirit of God to pervade us, to encompass us, to make us the people of God that He so obviously wants us to be? — Adam Knight – Computer Science 2001 – Baylor University Mail: ahknight at earthlink dot net – ICQ# 7839903 – AIM/AOL AdamKnight
