– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – "Sean" < wrote … "Sean" wrote … Following is a list of Verses that talk about Death and Sleep or unconsciousness. I have not added any comments as I personally believe that they are all self explanatory, although I understand that many of you with preconceived ideas of what your Church has told you to believe will not accept what is written. Yahweh Bless you + Since I am unable to determine what you mean by your statement, I must ask you what you mean? Which part didn’t’ you understand? + You claimed that many of us "would have preconceived ideas of what your church has told you to believe will not accept what is written." No I didn’t, I said that many of you will have preconceived ideas of what your churches have told you.
Yes, that is what he said you said. He got it right. YOU are the one who cannot read, it seems. + I don’t understand what you are saying. I am saying, read the Bible and don’t embellish the writings with the teachings of your churches.
You have already told us you don’t belong to a church. You quite clearly embellish the writings in the Bible with your own doctrines, however. That is clear to us all. You people really should stop refering to yourselves as protestants. Its very hard to figure out if you are a Roman Catholic or not these days.
Sean .. you’re losing your edge, bud. Gotta dig deeper than that if you’re gonna play with the big boys. Dave
Response:
+ OK. + Would you "care" to "share" your little ideas? What ideas, I believe the verses speak for themselves. This is great; why should these particular verses speak for themselves when "Protestants" have managed to find enough differing interpretations of other verses to come up with something like 30,000 different denominations?

+ Yes, you did. + Look above. + I didn’t change your words. + I included them. + I don’t understand what you are saying. I am saying, read the Bible and don’t embellish the writings with the teachings of your churches.
+ OK. + As a Roman Catholic, I read the bible, accept what it says. + Are you happy? As long as you read the verses without preconceived ideas or the teachings of your church, and don’t embellish the writings with your own additions, you should be pretty right.
+ OK. + Why do you feel that people in this newsgroup need to hear this approach to reading their bible? + Why would you think we did otherwise? + Do you have an example? + If so, would you like to discuss it? + Why do you think some "religious" people might have pre-conceived ideas? You used a the Catechism instead of the Bible. + OK. + Would you "care" to "share" your little ideas? What ideas, I believe the verses speak for themselves.
+ Yes they do.

Following is a list of Verses that talk about Death and Sleep or unconsciousness. I have not added any comments as I personally believe that they are all self explanatory, although I understand that many of you with preconceived ideas of what your Church has told you to believe will not accept what is written. ***** Death = Sleep (unconscious) Verses ****** NJB Deuteronomy 31:13-16 Yahweh’s instructions 14. Yahweh said to Moses, "And now the time is near when you must die. Summon Joshua and take your places at the Tent of Meeting, so that I can give him his orders." Moses and Joshua went and took their places at the Tent of Meeting, 15. and Yahweh showed himself at the Tent in a pillar of cloud; the pillar of cloud stood at the door of the Tent. 16. Yahweh said to Moses, "You will soon be sleeping with your ancestors, and this people is about to play the harlot by following the gods of the foreigners of the country, among whom they are going to live. They will desert me and break my covenant, which I have made with them. NJB 2 Samuel 7:12 12. And when your days are over and you fall asleep with your ancestors, I shall appoint your heir, your own son to succeed you (and I shall make his sovereignty secure. NJB 1 Kings 1:20-21 20. Yet you are the man, my lord king, to whom all Israel looks, to tell them who is to succeed my lord the king. 21. And when my lord the king falls asleep with his ancestors, Solomon and I shall be made to suffer for this." NJB 1 Kings 2:10 10. So David fell asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. NJB 1 Kings 11:21 21. But when news reached Hadad in Egypt that David had fallen asleep with his ancestors and that Joab the army commander was dead, he said to Pharaoh, "Give me leave to go that I may return to my own country." NJB 1 Kings 11:40-43 The end of the reign of Solomon 41. The rest of the history of Solomon, his entire career, his wisdom, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of Solomon? 42. Solomon’s reign in Jerusalem over all Israel lasted forty years. 43. When Solomon fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David his father; his son Rehoboam succeeded him. NJB Psalms 6:5 5. for in death there is no remembrance of you; who could sing your praises in Sheol? NJB Psalms 13:3 3. Look down, answer me, Yahweh my God! Give light to my eyes or I shall fall into the sleep of death. NJB Psalms 115:16-18 16. Heaven belongs to Yahweh, but earth he has given to the children of Adam. 17. The dead cannot praise Yahweh, those who sink into silence, 18. but we, the living, shall bless Yahweh, henceforth and for ever. NJB Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 5. The living are at least aware that they are going to die, but the dead know nothing whatever. No more wages for them, since their memory is forgotten. 6. Their love, their hate, their jealousy, have perished long since, and they will never have any further part in what goes on under the sun. NJB Ecclesiastes 9:10 10. Whatever work you find to do, do it with all your might, for there is neither achievement, nor planning, nor science, nor wisdom in Sheol where you are going. NJB Isaiah 38:18-19 18. For Sheol cannot praise you, nor Death celebrate you; those who go down to the pit can hope no longer in your constancy. 19. The living, the living are the ones who praise you, as I do today. Fathers tell their sons about your constancy. NJB Daniel 12:2 2. `Of those who are sleeping in the Land of Dust, many will awaken, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting disgrace. NJB John 11:11-16 11. He said that and then added, "Our friend Lazarus is at rest; I am going to wake him." 12. The disciples said to him, "Lord, if he is at rest he will be saved." 13. Jesus was speaking of the death of Lazarus, but they thought that by "rest" he meant "sleep"; 14. so Jesus put it plainly, "Lazarus is dead; 15. and for your sake I am glad I was not there because now you will believe. But let us go to him." 16. Then Thomas, known as the Twin, said to the other disciples, "Let us also go to die with him." NJB Acts 7:59-60 59. As they were stoning him, Stephen said in invocation, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60. Then he knelt down and said aloud, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And with these words he fell asleep. NJB 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 3. The tradition I handed on to you in the first place, a tradition which I had myself received, was that Christ died for our sins, in accordance with the scriptures, 4. and that he was buried; and that on the third day, he was raised to life, in accordance with the scriptures; 5. and that he appeared to Cephas; and later to the Twelve; 6. and next he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still with us, though some have fallen asleep; 7. then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles. 8. Last of all he appeared to me too, as though I was a child born abnormally. NJB 1 Corinthians 15:20 20. In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep. NJB 1 Corinthians 15:50-53 50. What I am saying, brothers, is that mere human nature cannot inherit the kingdom of God: what is perishable cannot inherit what is imperishable. 51. Now I am going to tell you a mystery: we are not all going to fall asleep, 52. but we are all going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet sounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead will be raised mperishable, and we shall be changed, 53. because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put on immortality. NJB Ephesians 5:12-15 12. The things which are done in secret are shameful even to speak of; 13. but anything shown up by the light will be illuminated 14. and anything illuminated is itself a light. That is why it is said: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. NJB 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 The dead and the living at the time of the Lord’s coming 13. We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope. 14. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15. We can tell you this from the Lord’s own teaching, that we who are still alive for the Lord’s coming will not have any advantage over those who have fallen asleep. 16. At the signal given by the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God, the Lord himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise, 17. and only after that shall we who remain alive be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. This is the way we shall be with the Lord for ever. Yahweh Bless you Sean The Truth Website: http://www.bigfoot.com/~truthforall/

Which part didn’t’ you understand? You have certainly used your "Strongs" and laid out some verses regarding death and sleep.
Actually, I didn’t use my "strongs" as you put it, I used the Bible. + I am Catholic. I am reading this from a Catholic newsgroup. I have deleted all other newsgroups in order to keep the discussion "pure."
Oh ok, that’s your choice. + Why do you think some "religious" people might have pre-conceived ideas? What ideas might those be?
Look at the teachings of your church. I have already seen an instance from you personally that involved preconceived ideas. You used a the Catechism instead of the Bible. + Which "religious" folks might not accept verses from the Bible as "inspired" words of God. Have you changed any of the meanings? or words?
I didn’t change any of the scriptures I posted, I simply copy and pasted them to the newsgroup. Sean The Truth Website: http://www.bigfoot.com/~truthforall/
