Question:

You really are never poor if you still can laugh.

In short, we love you amerikkka.  Beat us, slap us around, spit in our faces and, eventually, dance on our graves.  We just love you so damn much.  Why feed the children when you can kill them?  Peaces is so damn cheap, it’s war that’s expensive.  Keep the war machine rolling amerikkka.  What would all those poor contractors do without their fat government cheques?  And don’t tlisten to those kooks who would like to see government money used to investigate clean energy initiatives.  Those commies don’t understand the importance of an oil driven economy.  Besides, there’s lots of oil left. You take as much as you want, we’ll be ahppy with the left overs.

Loved this when it was new some ten to twenty years ago (which is why there is no mention of 9-11, for example) A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, any Canadians still feel much the same about us ? If so, it would sure be nice to see an update :-) , the below, is getting old enough to make us wonder if things have changed

<original thank you to the US snipped We love the amerikkkans up here, especially since deals like NAFTA resulted in the US getting a free pass to all of our natural resources, except for the ones that they have to pay us for, like our soft wood lumber and our beef (which is safer by far than anything south of the border…).  But hey, we got HBO and faulty missle defence system shooting dangerous bombs over our head at missles from other greatful countries the US had "helped" so much over the years.  I’m sure there are literally hundreds of countries lining up to thank amerikkka for 50 years of economic and political manipulation. Let’s not forget all the millitary coups they supported.  Thanks amerikkka for supporting the removal of one tyrant and replacing him with a more amerikkan friendly murderer.  I’m sure the Palistinians are extremely pleased about the financial and millitary aid that the US sends to Israel to help ensure they will never be anything more than hunted refugees in their own country.  I bet the good people of Iraq are also really pleased.  Thanks amerikkka for murdering thousands of our civillians, plunging us into civil war and abandoning the Geneva Convention.  This is what democracy tastes like amerikkkan style I guess.  But fuck those bastards overseas if they can’t take a joke eh?  They’re free now, and freedom feels sooooooo good. Let’s not forget all your friends in Europe.  Don’t worry about the quality of the world’s air amerikkka, we’ll pick up the slack for you.  We love you. Keep pumping out emmissions and call it a clean skys initiative.  That’s yankee enginuity for you.  And thanks for being a productive part of the UN. For respecting the decisions of the WTO on any trade disputed with your neighbor.  For subsidizing your farmers to help keep them competitive (it’s OK to keep dumping your cheap government funded crops and produce on us, don’t worry about testing your beef properly either, it’s so tasty, we don’t even care about BSE). Thanks for the war on drugs too amerikkka, where would we be without you as a moral role model?  It dosen’t matter that you supported the war mongering opium lords, sorry, I meant to say "The Northern Alliance" in Afganistan. So what if the people you support ship opium to pakistan where it’s manufactured into heroin for the US market?  Makes sense to all of us.  We don’t care that the CIA shipped plane load after plane load of herion out of vietnam.  Keep fighting the good fight amerikkka.  Those dirty columbian peasants deserve everything they get.  And we know you really want to stomp out those commie pot smokin’ liberal hippies.  They smoke pot because they hate freedom.  Makes sure to stomp those jerks with cancer and AIDS as hard as you can too, they’re all just gettin’ high.  It’s got nothing to do with medicine or civil liberties amerikkka.  Why can’t they just drink a good wholesome beer like Budweiser.  Ummmm…. starchy, just the way I like it. Thanks for being a good role model.  It’s way more important to keep one seriously brain damaged woman alive than it is to not shoot the wives and children of a bunch of third world rag heads.  And keep fighting against the murder that is abortion amerikkka.  The only thing women deserve the right to choose is what kind of shoes to wear (as long as you say they’re OK big guy…).  And forget stem cell research and theraputic human cloning.  DOn’t those freaky liberals know that it’s an afront to god almighty himself?  But your reward’s in heaven amerikkka. Oh ya, I just about forgot.  Thanks for censoring the media.  I don’t want to have to go through the trouble of thinking on my own amerikkka.  You do the thinking for both of us from now on.  Thanks for unbridled consumerism and finally showing us the way to manufacture good properly.  Why pay more? Let the loosers over seas and the spics do it for pennies on the dollar. They must be beating down your door every day to thank you for letting amerikkkan companies opperate without the tyrany of labour laws or respect for the environment. So fly the flag high and proud amerikkka.  Rally round the new constitution (a.k.a. the "patriot" act) and hail to the cheif.  We’re all watching you amerikkka, and listening too.  Don’t let us down now.  We’ve got tears in our eyes from prayin’ so hard from the bible you lent us.  We’ve got a song of praise on our lips.  God bless the USA.

A truly amazing sentiment from Canada!  My hats off to Ron Boutwell for supplying this little ray of sunshine from Gordon Sinclair out of the gloomy land of anti-American rhetoric run amok. I would like to correct one thing though.  Sinclair asked, "I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?" I don’t know if "raced" would be the appropriate word, but the French did blockade the port at Yorktown in 1781, thus cutting off Cornwallis’ last means of retreat from his last strong point in America, and probably shortened the war for American independence by several days or weeks. Didn’t affect the outcome by any means, but it was a nice gesture that actually cost the French something to make.  Oh, and let’s not forget that lovely statue!  Darn nice decoration that…and well made too.  But that’s the only time I can think of when some nation actually helped America when it was in trouble. Oh, and Norwood Holden can go suck an egg. Chuck Stamford

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – America sees a Saudi is their main adversary, Therefore they demonise an Iraqi America sees Saudis drive planes into their homeland, killing thousands, Therefore they invade Iraq America is the world’s biggest polluter Therefore they try to sell oil advice to Iraq after failing to steal the oil in sufficient number I am sure this has appeared on the group before.  I never saw it, but I have seen this letter make the rounds on the net.  If it never appeared here, this would be the only place.  At any rate, this is a quote from a Canadian TV Commentator named Gordon Sinclair who sums up the role America finds itself playing in the world quite nicely.  He also sums up the opinions of America’s critics pretty well.  His commentary follows: "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.  When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars! into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I’d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?  If so, why don’t they fly them? Why do all the International lines except  Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon?  You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon not once, but several times – and safely home again.  You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store  window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded.  They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don’t think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I’m one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those." Stand proud, America!
