Question:
Oh, dear Sir, I could not agree with you more. I’d love to be discussing the faith with others who, like I, are stupid enough to maintain fidelity to Rome. Have you taken a look at
No. I figure we collect enough of that here. In the largest part it is worthless because it attacts either non-believers or anti-Catholic "bashers". Here, as expected, I have encountered intelligence. And, since when is the discussion of Catholicism anathema to Anglicans?? I’d been thinking you folk prided yourself on being an independent, national church in the continuity of the faith handed down from the Apostles. If there are "brothers" in the Chirstian Church I think this group is the "close-est". You should be happy that I consider you/your communion "nome boys". I thought that Anglicans wanted to be part of the Roman Church with exceptions.
Please understand that the degree to which we as a church are interested in being in bed with Rome waxes and wanes, and can be very regional. In general, I think there is little if any interest in Saskatchewan, which appears to be much more Protestant than the Northeastern seaboard of the United States. Cousins perhaps, brothers no. I am happy you consider our communion, apparently well, but I think that you’d find that the Anglican Churches reservations are gaping holes which could only be filled by compromise on the Anglican side. I disagree strongly with compromises that undermine some of the good things that have happened since the split with Rome, such as female priests, representation of the people, etc… I understood this communion to profess the same faith in the "Real Presence" but not be keen recoginizing the Bishop of Rome as anything more than prima inter pares. I, personally, am very close to that view. Therefore, I think that what bishops, whose legitimacy we both acknowlege, do is of interest to us both.
Perhaps. What I objected to from the start is "If so, the believing folk of Massachusetts rejoice!! Will let you know if I have more reliable info. Right now it looks like the "faithful" have won an unqualified VICTORY!!" To me that seems to be Catholic bashing and somewhat rude. Which is why I suggested from the start and have tried to restate a number of times that you should post that on a Catholic group, where someone interested in defending Law could discuss it with you rather than posting it here, where you could rejoice in his demise without opposition. That is what bothered me.

For me, I enjoy watching history, and this situation will affect a very large world wide church. In some ways I wonder if we are witness to another schism. Bashing, no, curious, yes.

Thank you. I was saying nothing more. As a self-identifed RC, I really care about Anglican news. How your communion addresses the various conflicts withiin your organization is edifying. We are actually sharing the same problems. I consider myself as much a Anglican as I do an RC.
Response:
Guny, some folks (whose names are legion on the internet) just like to debate and argue, and stir the pot. Priscilla is right when she made those comments about Usenet. I think what happened today, with Law (a cardinal, no less!!) is indeed newsworthy. Rome has this rather patchy and fretful history of getting away with murder. Finally, after centuries, and thanks to mass literacy, the mass media and a greater sense of personal empowerment among the "sheep" (baaaa, baaaa…) guys like Law are being held **acountable**!!! "Can you hear the people sing? This is the song of angry men [and women]. This is the music of a people who will not be slaves again!!!" YIIIIIHAW.
Response:
Law’s resignation is not news that has an impact on the Anglican church outside of Boston…and I doubt it will have an impact in Boston. All I see in your posting is an attempt to justify your celebration that Law is gone. Got news for you. The next one will be just as involved in damage control as Law and the only way it seems that they will be able to avoid a dirty Cardinal is to bring in an import which from what I have seen in Canada is seldom a good thing.

I have no other corroborative souce. The "truth" therefore is to be determined. But they are reporting that Bernard Cardinal Law has submitted his RESIGNATION to the Vatican!!! If so, the believing folk of Massachusetts rejoice!! Will let you know if I have more reliable info. Right now it looks like the "faithful" have won an unqualified VICTORY!!

Who gives a shit. A roman catholic bishop has quit. Go proclaim your excitement where it belongs. On a Roman newgroup.

You are TRULY the problem!! I consider Anglicans a part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. If you want to cling to ancient Reformation games, you defeat the best hope for unity. I have a right to comment on the policies of any group that proclaims the same Gospel and celebrates the same Sacrament that my denonination does. We go by different names, have different institutional stuctures, but an Anglican and a RC Catholic belong to the same ONE CHURCH. Get a life and stop trying to be devisive!!

Actually no. I’m not. You can’t decide whether or not you want to fracture yourself from your own church, or participate in fracturing the Roman Catholic church. I consider Anglicans a part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. If you want to cling to ancient Reformation games, you defeat the best hope for unity.
First off. The Anglican church is part of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Second WTF? Cling to ancient reformation games well whatever. I have a right to comment on the policies of any group that proclaims the same Gospel and celebrates the same Sacrament that my denonination does.
Now you tread into waters far from the original topic was your glorifaction of the Cardinal Law issues. Which I cannot begin to describe my apathy towards. Law will be replaced by an outsider who is far more conservative than any current American bishop, I think I shall laugh when you bemoan how draconian the new cardinal really will be. We go by different names, have different institutional stuctures, but an Anglican and a RC Catholic belong to the same ONE CHURCH. Get a life and stop trying to be devisive!!
I was not trying to be devisive. I was trying to get you to go where your pompous glorifaction of the ruins that are the Catholic church in the United States. I’m not the one who is trying to decide whether I want to leave my church. You are. I stand by what I said earlier. If you want to glory in damage done to the RC church do it on one of the many Roman Catholic Newsgroups. It’s not Anglican, It’s not Episcopalian, It’s not even happy news. It’s just another chapter in a story of abuse. Hardly reason for celebration Gunny. It’s just sad.

You, Sir, are a hateful person. You, Sir, are anti-Christian. Unbelievable to me. You have no connection with the Anglicans with whom I worship. You have no connection with the "Romans" I know. The Romans I know pay attention to what is said in Caterbury. The Anglicans I know pay attention to what is said in Rome. What happens in one denomination IS significant to a believer in the other. Your attitude is genuinely SICK!!

No. I don’t believe I am hateful. I just really don’t care for you laughing about the resignation of a Roman Catholic Cardinal on an Episcapol group. I find that to be both sick and cowardly. If you want to laugh about that resignation I think you should be doing it on a Roman Catholic group. I don’t think that your glorification of the resignation of Cardinal Law is justifaction for celebration. I think that is what is sick here. I don’t think that laughing about this resignation is appropriate on this group. I think if you want to do that you should gather up the mental fortitude and to do it where it is most appropriate… on a Roman Catholic group, where reaction should be far more balanced. Law’s resignation is not news that has an impact on the Anglican church outside of Boston…and I doubt it will have an impact in Boston.
