Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – wrote Peter, you must be an American. Even the RCC wouldn’t try to tell an American what to do. BUT! Go to another country and you’ll see whassup….. Check out some of the statements of St. Louis’s bishop. Before going to St. Louis, he told priests that they should not allow pro-choice politicians to have Mass. Perhaps the disagreement lies in the definition. I see blind obedience as one who accepts teachings without any effort on their own to learn the truth. Disagreement does not warrant disobedience. When you mention denial of the Eucharist to pro-choice politicians, I don’t see that as forcing blind obedience. At no point in that proclamation, are their abilities to disagree, discuss, and reason the issues being denied. At some point, the politicians are going to have to decide what is more important: Jesus and the Church, or their own personal convictions. If they can’t reconcile the Catholic church with their feelings on abortion, then perhaps they should consider another denomination. But this bishop is trying to do exactly as the Catholic baiters claimed the Pope wanted in 1960–give orders to politicians. He’s exactly the kind of man who feeds anti-Catholic bigotry. He is not giving orders concerning politics, Kerry is free to do as he wants politically. What he is not free to do is to take Communion due to his support of abortion. Any Catholic that has had an abortion, encouraged one or supported abortion is excommunicated under canon law. Kerry is darn lucky the bishops haven’t publicized this and merely prohibited him from approaching for Communion. I’m not impressed with the fake moralizing of any religious leader whether he is a proudly ignorant fundamentalist or an intolerant Roman Catholic or a member of the Taliban. The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is a deadly sin. Call it intolerant or whatever you wish but the fact remains that Kerry is well aware of this and the penalty for supporting abortion.
I never brought up Kerry, but you seem to have confused the idea of sin with the idea of crime. Women are not allowed to have a say in the affairs of many churches, including the RCC, but that doesn’t mean that they sanction people for allowing a civil law that allows women to vote or be members of the legislature. The bottom line your asserting that the bishop is giving orders to politicians is simply not the case. Kerry can vote for every abortion bill that comes down the line and when he does so, he does it with full knowledge that he is dissenting from Catholic teaching on abortion and the consequences of doing so. On the other hand if he was prolife he wouldn’t be the Democratic candidate. Life is full of choices and we all have to make them, Kerry made his.
I’m still not talking about Kerry, but I don’t see why anyone would think it’s okay to insist that a particular religious doctrine be implemented as _law_. Don’t confuse the two.

While I agree that people who are not in agreement with their religious denomination shouldn’t have any problem in America finding one they agree with, the emotional pull of religion often makes it hard to leave a particular denomination, no matter how wrongheaded their leaders are. If the Boy Scouts had suffered the scandal that the Roman Catholic church has been suffering, it would be abandoned by every parent and their children would be pulled out of it. The emotional power of religion is strong enough to overcome many abuses.

All cults have this C.C.C. practice of telling(even warning) their members that only they can interpret God’s word. This is their mark and shows them to be antichrist.
Are you suggesting the Catholic church teaches blind obedience? That certainly isn’t any parish I’ve attended. In fact, I’ve experienced the opposite. Personal interpretation, WITH discussion, is encouraged. — Pete "To love for the sake of being loved is human; to love for the sake of loving is angelic." — Alphonse de Lamartine

Bible vs C.C.C 85 & 86 The Magisterium of the Church: C.C.C. C.C.C.-85 & 86. "…this means that the task of interpretation[of God's Word the Bible] has been intrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome." Bible: I John 2:20- "But ye[all believers] have an unction[annointing] from the Holy One, and ye know all things." I John 2:27- "But the anointing which ye[all believers] have received of Him[Holy Spirit in all believers] that abideth in you, and ye need not that any MAN teach you: But as the same anointing teacheth you of ALL things, And is truth, and is no lie, even as it hath taught you. Ye shall abide in Him." Comment: The cult of the RCC has usurped the role and authority of the Holy Spirit of God in claiming that only they have the ability and spiritual knowledge to interpret God’s Word the Bible. This is a blatant lie and is used to deceive and control their ignorant and unfortunate members. When a person is born again from God(John 3:3,5,7) into the kingdom of God they can see(know, preceive, understand, interpret) the things of God. As the verses above indicate each believer is anointed by the Holy Spirit and taught by Him. All cults have this C.C.C. practice of telling(even warning) their members that only they can interpret God’s word. This is their mark and shows them to be antichrist.
