People have the right to be as foolish as they wish (as you are so aptly demonstrating). On the other hand .. you could throw away your computer and just preach to yourself in a mirror, preach to your dog .. or train a parrot to listen to your every word, and proclaim you most wise and holy! Sure, and you could smash your modem with a hammer and you would have some time to meet girls. You DO like girls, don’t you? and you wonder why I "caustically" attack ignorant assholes like you! I already know why. Because you have no life. Tell me …. I’m curious …. how does throwing out ignorant childish insults like that have anything to do with the RCC? It doesn’t. Neither does attacking a lady who wishes to tune out fools like you. If you agree it doesn’t – why do you assume attacking assholes making insane, irrations, outrageous and extremist claims is the same as attacking religion? Because like I told my 9 year old daughter: "It’s not so much what you said, it’s how you said it". She got it.
Now, maybe if you could educate priests, bishops and the pope – you would have fewer people you call catholic bashers. BTW .. Why is it fair for catholics (religious people) to say just abaout anything against non-believers (i.e. you’re a tool of Satan, you’re going to burn in hell all the way up to believing them foolish/ledsser people because they don’t believe .. but anything said against a catholic/believer No matter how outrageous and origianl statement BY tha tbeliever might be, – the persona saying something against them make them something evil? As long as there have been catholics, catholics have based everyone else with an air of arrogant superiority. Stop that, and what you call catholic bashing will ease up too. You don’t want a religious group where you can discuss religion freely … you want a group where anyoone claiming to be a believer can bellow even the most insane, non-religion relivent, crap without interference from opponents. Gee, that would be nice. It would be cool to have NO opponents in here as far as I’m concerned. I like to discuss my faith with those who understand it. Those who can help me understand more deeply the mysteries. You AIN’T that person.
No. and I never intended to be. If that’s what you want to discuss, you won’t hear one word from me. BUT .. if you’ll notice the posts in here .. there are relatively few that are focused on purely religious or specifically religious comments. The VAST majority involves issues, either religous or social, that DO involve or affect other people. Social agendas and attitudes are talked about – that concerns me. Abortion and homosuality are talked about – those concern me. School vouchers and prayer in schools are talked about, they concern me. Politics and religons are talked about, they concern me. Child molesting priests, and the bishops and system that allow it to happen ( and still protect them) concern me. Other fanatical religous attitudes are shown that influence the society I live in….that concerns ME! If you bothered to look, and I know you didn’t, you would have noticed that I NEVER attack anyone who is just talking about things in and pertinent to their religon. You know, I have to agree with that. I haven’t gotten involved in each and every one of your conversations. I think it was the "Pope Dilbert" that turned me off. I figured you for an anti-Catholic troll.
To tell the truth, the more I learn, the more I am likely to attack the RCC. If that makes me "anti (Roman) catholic – then it would be a title I would wear proudly. However, it does not make me a troll. Just as much as you have the right to come into a religous newsgroup and praise the, and the action of the Roman Catholic church .. I have the right to condemn it for crimes, legal and social, it has commited. You don’t like the way I get my point across, I don’t like the way your pope gets his point across. My assumption about your other group, and it’s members’ is it’s nothing more than "yes man" place where the RCC, and it’s members, are only praised. To me, that is no different than any other goup locking out opposing opinions just to lock themselve stronger into their own narrominded beliefs. Those conversations that I HAVE been privy to have borne that out. I attack those who make insane claims based on what they warp their religon, and insane claims that relate to thing outside of their religon. So what do you figure is an "insane claim"? That there IS a God, and that Jesus rose from the dead? If that is the claim, then we’re done talking.
No. That is not insane – it is, however, a religous belief .. not fact! I do not usually argue with what people "believe", I do argue with people who claim those beliefs are facts. (creationism, the bible’s stance on abortion, the treatment of homosexuals in society, the arrogance that any one religion is "The True one and only religon of Jesus Christ and God" … aka the Roman Catholic Church, attitudes about and the treatment of atheists, the wrinkles in my palm are a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross, if you don;t agree with ME – you’re anti god, etc. etc. etc.) There are many more of those type of conversations in here than there are pure discusion about religion. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – But, still, you can stick your fingers in your ears, bellow any crap you want and have no fear of hearing any opposing opinion (caustic or not) .. but please don’t try to fool anyone into think you are doing anything honorable! Most of what I see, at face value, within this Newsgroup, appears to be of a negative sort. Am I mis-interpreting what I see? Let those of us who ARE Roman Catholic; who DO respect the Holy Father; whe DO follow faithfully, the teachings of the Church, make this Newsgroup a place of growth and learning. Not a lion’s den of "Dodge ball," eh?!
+ Hang around, buddy. We like your attitude. + We don’t have enough Roman Catholics who are proud. + Speak up once in a while. The trolls do seem to try to overwhelm us every once in a while. Patrick

In Outlook Express: MESSAGE|BLOCK SENDER. You will then be asked if you really want to block them and if so just click yes. You will never see them again as a poster. You may see them if they are in a thread someone else replies to but no more posts from them.

Let those of us who ARE Roman Catholic; who DO respect the Holy Father; whe DO follow faithfully, the teachings of the Church, make this Newsgroup a place of growth and learning. Not a lion’s den of "Dodge ball," eh?! What a glorious Church we have indeed!! With all of it’s spot and wrinkle. Didn’t Jesus show great love for an imperfect group of people?! Matthew, a tax collector, (who LOVES a "tax collector); Judas, (who must have been extremely greedy and self-absorbed); Peter, who was always flying off the handle, and was quick to hide from trouble; Thomas who never believed anything at above all others. No matter where I look, in whatever direction, if I look hard enough I will find imperfection and disarray. No "Church" nor church official; no gathering of the "faithful" is without its share of imperfect people, struggling with the thing we all have in common; life itself. Our enemy is a common one, as well. He is bent on taking as many of us every one of us that he can take away from Christ is another opportunity for him to slap God in the face for having cast him down. Yet we are a capable people, eh?! We know the difference between a life given over to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and one that is yielded only to selfish intent. Thank God for the Sacrament of Reconcilliation that effectively allows for "do overs!" Thank God that He doesn’t just cast us aside at the first violation, never to be able to return to His Grace!! As a Protestant convert to the faith…….a preacher’s kid, (now 45/married/raised two daughters to college age), and the grandson of a preacher, I can tell you that no matter where you look, you WILL see imperfection. Heck, "I" see imperfection every time I look into the mirror!! There are those from every rank and file that have fallen short, and some Word of God is faithful and true, regardless. The message of the Cross is not made void by us men (generic), and our "doings." Let us never fail to look daily at our lives, and see the log in our OWN eyes, and work as best we can, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to remove the log, so that we can see clearly, and walk unencumbered into the day. Placing our vision toward the "light" of Truth, and not the dinge of darkness…….learning what our Lord would require of "us" individually as well as collectively. Yes, in some ways, the ecumenical outlook IS somewhat "Borg" like, (for you Star Trek Fans), but it is also MORE than a "collective." It has individualistic dimensions of freedom that can easily harm or help the collective. the deep in your walk with Him, (as Arch Bishop Timothy Cronin had said in his servitude to the Most Holy God, and see what His purpose is for you. It could Abraham left not knowing where God was taking him; Noah obeyed, in spite of the entire human race being demolished all around him;…….let us follow with great faith and trust, the one who has jurisdiction over our soul. When our time has come to meet Him, let it be true that we have heard the words: "Well done, you good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of My Kingdom!" Respectfully, Ole fuddy duddy Rom.8:38,39
