Question:
It’s amazing that the people who insist on full immersion deny the efficacy of baptism, and call it only a "symbol." If it’s only a symbol, what are they going on about?
That’s a very good point. Never looked at it that way. Dave

I would be very suspicious of your source. The RCC in all Truth does withhold the True baptism, as they only ’sprinkle a tinkle’ instead of being "Buried with him (Jesus) in baptism" "One Lord, one faith, one baptism" Eph 4:5 (KJV) The word BAPTISM STRONG"S Greek Number 0908 Greek word: baptisma {bap’-tis-mah} Vine’s Word(s): Baptism, Baptist, Baptize Usage Notes: KJV – baptism 22 [Total Count: 22] 1) immersion, submersion 1c) of Christian baptism; a rite of immersion in water as commanded by Christ, by which one after confessing his sins and professing his faith in Christ, having been born again by the Holy Spirit unto a new life, identifies publicly with the fellowship of Christ and the church. ++++ Is It not impossible for ‘babes in arms’ to fulfill the above.? I have heard of baptism beng withheld because someone wished to be baptized to please someone else, as opposed to actually converting. Tell us, how can babies be ‘converted’ and how can such "Believe and (then) be baptised"? Christ’s Disciple… "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." 2 Tim 4:2-5 (KJV)

1) Baptism is usually done by pouring, not sprinkling. Immersion is the preferred method according to the Catechism, and anyone who wishes to be baptized by full immersion can request it, and it will be done. 2) Strong’s notwithstanding, there is no evidence that early baptism was a full dunk, and there’s no way of knowing. The fact is, the Jordan is very shallow, and you’d have a hard time dunking someone. Baptisms that take place NOW in the Jordan River (and there are many) are not done by dunking for precisely this reason. 3) It’s amazing that the people who insist on full immersion deny the efficacy of baptism, and call it only a "symbol." If it’s only a symbol, what are they going on about? They truly "Have a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof." (2 Tim.3:5)
