Question:
But seriously, since "a personal relationship with Jesus Christ" is so critical, surely you have a personal testimonial as to what this initial dinner with Jesus was like. How was the food, etc?
I got as far as University before I met some people who made me think that Jesus Christ had something to offer me in this life. My relationships with others made me realise that they did not have anything really fulfilling to offer me, and vice versa. I started getting involved in various denominations and reading books in an attempt to find God’s will for me. About 2 years later various peers began to speak of being filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and other bible signs and wonders. I noticed that they had a confidence and contentment about the things of God which I hadn’t attained. For the first time I called on The Lord to *do* something, namely fill me with His Spirit as He had others; by now I wanted nothing more, I didn’t doubt or fear. One night in my own room I began speaking in tongues, I didn’t feel greatly different, just a little more peaceful but in the days that followed I realised that the Bible was speaking about the new life that I now had ! As I read it I had an appreciation of what it was talking about that I never had before, despite reading commentaries by well-spoken of people. I soon got baptised and found a Church that understands how one gets saved and what salvation is. So, the "food" was a satisfying and fulfilling purpose for life, to know God and be like God. By the way, as was posted in another message, why use this verse which was spoken to a Church, for people who aren’t Christians?
Because it says "if any man" and the great commission is given to the church. Christians can become hard-hearted and stop relying on The Lord, effectively shutting The Lord our of their lives. They do not grow spiritually, becoming "luke warm", The Loprd warns them, "knocks on their door", if they whole-heartedly turn to The Lord, he will feed them spiritually enabling them to overcome their backsliding. – Nick
Response:
Have you never heard of "food for thought?" Have you never digested a word given to you? What you eat and digest becomes part of your body. So also in the spirit, what you "eat" and "digest" of the food for thought given you becomes part of your spirit body. The Living Word that proceeds forth from the mouth of God to a person, is this "food" that becomes the spirit body called the "Spirit of Christ." It is the new spirit God gives mankind. It is the spirit body of the Son of God who comes into mankind in this same Word from God, being the substance of that Word; the substance that when eaten and digested becomes the body. Reason why Jesus of Nazareth declared to the disciples they must eat his body, "his" referring to the body of the Son of God that comes to all who receive from God this new body; the glorified body. Joh:6:60: Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? Joh:6:63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Instead of seeking crumbs from under the table why not take hold of the gospel and receive the Spirit yourself ? Joh:14:20: At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. – Nick — Visit DocReason’s Strategy HQ for free games, reviews, and support and opponent finding for obscure/orphan games at: http://www.geocities.com/timessquare/fortress/7537/
